This history started over 40 years ago. Esteve Bosch's father was a pig famer in Girona and his mother grew and sold her garden produce at the local market. His family was known as “El Blau”; and even as small child Esteve was helping out with the business. When he was 21 years old, he was destined to military service in Lleida.
There, when he had free time, he would leave the base to buy fruit and eggs at the market and then sent them to Girona on the train, where his mother could sell the fruit and eggs. One of the fruit producers, from whom he had bought fruit, had a daughter whose name was Teresa. She lived in a small farm village in the province of Lleida, where she helped her father at the market and also worked in a cooperative.

The first time that Esteve and Teresa met each other was in the cooperative where she worked and where he bought fruit and eggs. It was love at first sight…and that was the beginning of this love and business story they have been writing together for over 40 years.

Esteve and Teresa married in 1970 in Montserrat, a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat in the province of Barcelona. From scratch and with enthusiasm and hard work, they set up their own market stand where they sold fruit and vegetables in the Girona wholesale market. Teresa managed the stall; and Esteve went to the villages to buy local grown apples, which he sold at markets all over Spain.

After years of exclusively selling and distributing fruit and vegetables, Esteve decided to try his hand at fruit growing in the province of Girona; while Teresa was in charge of the market stand in the Girona wholesale market.

Full of plans for the future and a desire to improve their own company, they finally left the market to dedicate themselves body and soul to their own apple orchards, selling the fruit across the country.

Esteve and Teresa`s enthusiasm led them to opening new markets in the 90’s. They decided to increase production and specialize in pear production given the suitability of the Mediterranean climate and the terrain where the fruit was grown. Thus expanding and opening new business opportunities and international relationships to commercialize and export their products.

Over these years, Esteve and Teresa have raised a family of seven children: Susanna, Elisabet, Xavier, Cristina, Teresa, Josep Maria and Esteve. They combined family life with company work. The involvement and dedication of the whole family all these years has kept the family business spirit alive.

In 2006, Esteve and Teresa once again demonstrated their ability to improve the family business and innovate in the market. They launched their 100% natural fruit desserts, made with fresh fruit. An innovative way of getting the whole family to eat fruit in an easy, convenient and healthy way.
As they are a family business where everything is done from home, Esteve and Teresa decided to call these fruit desserts ANELA: the initial letters of their three grandchildren (ANna + ELisabet + LAia = ANELA). Little by little, these 100% natural fruit desserts have made a place for themselves in the national market and are now to be found in all the main supermarkets, hospitals, schools and nursing homes, etc.

Over forty years of love, effort and enthusiasm have consolidated Esteve and Teresa’s business. A company founded in passion and enthusiasm, quality and hard work; values they have passed onto their children. Theirs is a simple, humble story, a lifetime's journey that let them from a large family of seven children and 12 grandchildren. Recently, two of their sons have taken the reins of the company. They use what they were taught to run the company to make improvements every day and to achieve all the objectives they set. Currently Xavier manages fruit production and Josep Maria is in charge of Anela Fruits dessert production.
